Tips for Comfortable Travel of Pregnant Mom

A long journey may be a scary thing for most people especially for pregnant women. Vehicles such as cars, airplanes, buses and trains are not always comfortable and sitting still for a very long time can worsen the area around the back and neck. Avoiding the stress of pregnant women due to discomfort is a great idea to prevent pregnancy complications during long trips.

The following tips are offered for pregnant women to stay healthy and help reduce or avoid back pain overall as well as discomfort while traveling.

1. Pay attention to nutritional needs

Condition the body before leaving to prevent the occurrence of dehydration in pregnant women. The night before departure to meet the needs of fluids. Drink water about 2 liters with 1-1.5 hours 500cc at a time. Although it would be risky to frequent the bathroom and interrupt the mother's rest time. However it can be replaced with a break when traveling. Try to urinate and large first before leaving. Do not forget to dawn and bring lunch break fasting nutritious drinks for both mother and fetus in the womb, can be from rendamam dates or infus water from fruits.

2. Luggage style perfunctory

Luggage such as clothes, etc. can be an important thing when going home to home. But it would be better to bring the need sekerdarnya while traveling. This will make it easier for us to focus on the couple and the child to be more easily awake. Simply bring a changeable clothes style that can be washed dry and then reused when in the hometown.

A heavy bag can be more than just an inconvenience - it can cause or aggravate back pain with tense muscles and joints. To avoid unnecessary tension, using wheeled suitcases is the best option. But even if you use a wheeled suitcase, you still have to lift it up or down stairs, and get out of the car, etc. Therefore, it is better if you are forced to carry a lot better use some small luggage. For some trips, the best option is to avoid carrying large items or the assignment can be transferred to your husband or other traveling companion.

3. Lift Luggage Gradually

Strain (muscle tension) often occurs in the part of motion when lifting heavy items. For this reason, experts recommend moving slowly while lifting heavy luggage and dividing the action into smaller and lighter parts, whenever possible. For example, when lifting a bag into an overhead bin, it can first be lifted onto a chair, then to bin in a separate movement.

Important point in lifting:

* Lunges and leg muscles to lift

* Avoid rotating the waist while lifting; Support by foot

* Bring heavy items by putting as close as possible to the body

* Distributing the weight evenly on each side of the body

* If carrying a shoulder bag, often switch sides to avoid one side pressure

* Avoid taking the goods with a bent position, take it through the stages squat (if possible) or from a sitting position first and then standing with a weight that rests on both legs, not the back.

4. Back and shoulders

Chairs in cars, trains, planes etc. often do not support for the neck and lower back. A lumbar support pillow (boyok) can be used to make your seat more comfortable and support your lower back. If you do not have one or forget to carry it, a jacket, sweater or rolled quilt can also provide support for the lower back curve. Put the appropriate pillow around the neck can help avoid neck strain by providing head support while resting or sleeping in a sitting position during the trip.

5. Note the position of the foot

Foot position will also support a lot of lower back comfort. If your feet are not on a flat surface while sitting, additional stress will be channeled into the lower back. Therefore, if your seat is too high, try to rest your feet on the footrest (or something that can act as a footrest) to keep the knee at an appropriate angle and avoid lower back compression. For that pregnant women should not be driving.

6. Move as much as possible

The spine is designed to move. Sitting in one position for a long time will make the back muscles tense, which can put pressure on the spine. Get up and stretch and move about every 20 to 30 minutes if possible - to move your muscles. Movement stimulates blood flow, and blood carries essential nutrients and oxygen to the spinal structures - Helps prevent soft tissue in the back from becoming stiff and sore after sitting for long periods. Even 10 seconds of movement and stretching is better than sitting still. This movement also helps prevent blood clots in the feet (called deep vein thrombosis), which is one of the most dangerous risks of sitting still for a long time.

7. Bringing children

Hmm, going home with children will be quite tiring, especially children are still small and need supervision. If using a public vehicle, try to get a chair to sit. Do not force yourself to ride a vehicle that is full of seat or even to be forced to stand. If you have to hold your child help with a comfortable cloth or sling. Take, if there is a chance to put the child (still must be taken care of and not far from us)

8. The sensitivity of a husband or a traveling companion of pregnant women

The sensitivity and initiative of husbands and traveling companions of pregnant women to lighten the burden of pregnant women will greatly help the health of mothers and fetuses. So, do not get tired to ask the mother's situation and meet her needs to keep feeling comfortable.

If there is discomfort and pain:

1. Immediately find a place to rest

2. Compress if necessary.

One of the quickest ways to get help is to apply cold compresses with ice blocks and heat / warm. For example, you can fill all kinds of plastic bags / containers / cups with ice and place them for painful parts - such as placing a small rubber bag containing ice between your waist and back when you are driving or sitting on a plane or train. You can also use a portable, hot pack that will heat up once you open it, so you can take it on your journey and apply it as needed. However, do not expose too much heat as it can add to the swelling and therefore, the touch of ice and hot beams for 10-15 minutes each, can avoid a prolonged hot rash.

Then the most important is the prayer because Allah SWT gives the privilege for the people who travel (safar). God's prayer will be preached. So many doaa yaa mother ..

Awareness to maintain a sitting position and lifting techniques will help you stay fit. Preparing ways to make yourself comfortable during the trip can help to relieve stress from travel and ultimately make your trip more enjoyable.

Happy Trip, Dear mother. Healthy always.
